SHILLONG, Jan 28: The opposition Congress on Saturday asked the BJP Meghalaya Incharge M. Chuba Ao not to waste time to meddle in the internal matters of the party.

“Perhaps Ao should keep himself occupied in improving the performance of his own party,” president of the Shillong City Congress Committee, Dr Omarlin Kyndiah said in a statement here.

He was strongly reacting to the claim made by Chuba Ao that the Congress will win in just three-four seats in the upcoming elections.

Kyndiah said, “One hopes that the BJP learns its most important lesson from the previous elections which is to respect the essential secular principles of the Constitution and its Preamble and to take action against those of its foot-soldiers who insist on violating the principles of secularism and social harmony endlessly.”

“While Chuba Ao expressed confidence about his party’s performance which is contrary to the assessment of BJP State President, Ernest Mawrie, Ao and the BJP seem to be in the state of confusion on BJP prospects in Meghalaya. Thus making BJP a “confused party of confused leaders”,” he further added.

On Friday, Chuba Ao said that the position of the Congress in Meghalaya is not good.

“They (Congress) are not getting good candidates to field and they may win only three-four seats maximum according to our assessment,” he had said.
