Shillong, April 8: While the National People Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, was campaigning in Umsning, Ri Bhoi on Monday, supporters of the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) disrupted the campaign by shouting slogans in support of the VPP.
It was reported that as the NPP candidate was campaigning, the VPP supporters approached the campaign venue to shout, “Ha u Prah”.
NPP candidate chased the VPP supporters away before the situation escalated.
However, the VPP supporters continued to shout the slogan, leading to a brawl between the two sides of supporters.
Lyngdoh had to step in to stop the brawl before it escalated.
It was also informed that few individuals were taken by the police to Umsning Police Station.
