According to a leaked secret letter dated May 11, 2023 by Dy Superintendent of Police (DSB) of West Garo Hills, Tura, meetings are being conducted in various places in Garo Hills such as Jadi, Nongal, and Chalang to mobilize the youth to join the outfit.

The letter, that has been leaked on social media and is going viral, claims that nearly 500 youth have already been recruited and are being sent to Nagaland and Burma to pursue basic training courses. It is also suspected that some prominent businessmen are aiding the outfit to regroup.

The letter, sent to all the OCs and ICs in the district, has directed them to verify the information and intensify their intelligence network to monitor the movement and activities of surrendered or arrested cadres of the outfit, sympathizers, and harbourers, especially in known hideout. It further asked them to also monitor prominent businessmen in their respective jurisdictions who are suspected to have links with the GNLA so as to discover clues on the input.

Additionally, they have been advised to conduct area domination exercises regularly to deny the outfit any operational space in the Garo Hills region.
