Shillong, Sept 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to contest the upcoming elections to the three autonomous district councils (ADCs) in Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills region of the state.
“We will contest the upcoming elections in all 3 ADCs – KHADC, JHADC and GHADC. However, we are not sure on whether to contest in all the 29 seats of each district council,” BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek said.
“The decision on this regards will depend on the availability of candidates,” he added.
Asked, Hek said that tickets will be allotted to candidates based on winnability factor.
“Otherwise, we cannot just give ticket to anybody or everybody,” he stated.
Sources said that the elections of the KHADC, JHADC and GHADC are likely to be held simultaneously.
