Tura, Aug 13: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, former Youth Congress Chief Richard Marak and also close aide of former chief minister Mukul Sangma, who was arrested for his alleged role in the conspiracy hatched to attack the CM mini secretariat resulting in widespread violence in Tura has been granted bail.

Following his arrest he had complained of feeling unwell for which the authorities had to take him to the hospital for medical attention and was admitted to Tura Civil Hospital.

After Richard’s arrest for alleged role in the violence, TMC leader Dr Mukul Sangma said that he was arrested due to the West Garo Hills Police acting on the behest of political bosses in power.

Richard’s involvement in the violence came to light after a large number of Trinamool workers involved in the attack were arrested by police.

One of the arrested Trinamool supporters is alleged to have told police that he stayed at Richard’s home to evade police after the attack.

Since the night of July 24, West Garo Police have arrested 49 people who were involved in the Tura violence.
