SHILLONG, OCT 6: BJP state president Rikman G Momin on Tuesday dismissed reports that the party is considering its chief spokesperson and former IPS officer M Kharkrang for the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha byelection, stating that the application process is already over.

Asked if Kharkrang is being considered, Momin categorically said, “I don’t know.”

He clarified that the party has already closed applications and forwarded the list of aspirants to the central leadership.

“Whatever, the application is already closed, whatever the applicants are there we have already sent to the central leadership,” Momin said.

According to Momin, nine names have been submitted to the central leadership for consideration for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.

On the query whether former Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh is among those considered, he said, “I cannot tell you right now in front of you.”
