Shillong, Oct 15: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong, in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has invited young researchers and practitioners from India and abroad to contribute ideas on sports leadership, innovation and governance as the country looks towards hosting major international sporting events.
The call for research papers is for an international conference titled “Youth for Impact: Game Changers in Sports Leadership — Equity, AI-Enabled Innovation and Good Governance for Viksit Bharat 2047,” scheduled to be held at IIM Shillong in Meghalaya from March 5 to 7, 2027.

The conference aims to bring young people under the age of 35, including researchers, sports technologists, coaches, administrators and entrepreneurs, into discussions on the future of India’s sporting ecosystem.
The initiative comes as India prepares for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad and pursues its ambition to host the 2036 Olympic Games. It also seeks to explore how policy, technology and effective governance can strengthen the country’s sports sector.
The conference will cover six thematic areas: inclusive pathways in sports, including gender equity and Para-sports; governance, integrity and safe sporting environments; artificial intelligence, data analytics and sports technology; sports economics, enterprise and startups; athlete wellbeing and sustainable sports infrastructure; and mega-event legacy, sports diplomacy and grassroots development.
The organisers have invited Indian and international researchers and practitioners below 35 years of age to submit full research papers by November 14, 2026.
There is no registration fee for the conference. All paper presenters will receive support for travel, food and accommodation, according to the announcement.
Submission guidelines and further details are available on the official conference website at : https://conf.iimshillong.ac.in/yfi2027/
