SHILLONG, AUG 24: Former Rajya Sabha MP and former state president of the National People’s Party (NPP), Dr WR Kharlukhi, on Monday resigned from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.
In his resignation letter addressed to NPP state president Prestone Tynsong, Kharlukhi stated, “I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the National People’s Party with immediate effect.”
Thanking the party leadership and fellow members, Kharlukhi said, “I sincerely thank the party leadership and fellow members for the opportunities, support and experiences extended to me during my association with the party. I am grateful for the time spent working alongside the party and its members.”
He further requested the state president to accept his resignation and take the necessary steps to remove his name from the party’s primary membership records with immediate effect.
Kharlukhi’s resignation letter does not specify any reason for his decision to leave the party.
Dr Kharlukhi had served as the state president of the NPP and was also a former Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.
