SHILLONG, APR 13: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar distributed a grant of Rs 8 lakh to the Seng Raij Shnong Pasyih (SRSP) to support the traditional festival “Shad Chukra 2026” in Pasyih, East Khasi Hills.
Speaking at the event, Dhar praised the SRSP for organizing the festival, aimed at preserving the community’s cultural heritage.

“Such events are essential to strengthen unity and provide opportunities for the youth,” he said.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including Thom Kyndait, President of SRSP, who highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions.
The programme began with a traditional ceremony, led by Philis Dkhar.
Dhar also acknowledged the contributions of Ham Siangshai and Jointly Ksoo, who were felicitated for their service to the community.

The grant is intended to further support the SRSP’s activities and promote cultural preservation in the region.
The event concluded with a cultural performance, showcasing the community’s rich heritage.
