SHILLONG, MAR 26: The Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Meghalayan Age Limited (MAL), is set to host the Culinary Cascade 2026 on March 27-28, 2026, at the Ward’s Lake, Shillong. The event aims to spotlight Meghalaya’s cuisine, culture, and local food economy, creating new opportunities for tourism and sustainable growth.
“Culinary Cascade has evolved into a flagship platform that brings together cuisine, culture, and community, creating new pathways for tourism and sustainable opportunities for local communities, farmers, and food entrepreneurs,” said officials from the Department of Tourism.
The festival will feature a range of curated experiences, including culinary dialogues, innovation showcases, and interactive food installations.

A key highlight will be the ‘Food Museum’, a sensory journey combining live recreations, digital storytelling, and chef-led interactions to present Meghalaya’s food traditions.
Visitors can expect a diverse culinary showcase featuring indigenous Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo cuisines, alongside contemporary interpretations and traditional street food. The festival will also provide a platform for local producers and businesses to expand visibility and strengthen market linkages.
“The initiative aligns with the Government’s broader vision of strengthening a sustainable tourism ecosystem while generating economic value across food and agriculture-linked sectors,” said officials.
The event is part of the Government’s efforts to position Meghalaya on the global tourism map, showcasing the state’s unique identity and cultural heritage.
The Culinary Cascade 2026 will coincide with SEETI Meghalaya, a six-day curated cultural immersion programme, further enhancing the overall visitor experience.
