SHILLONG, MAR 7: Governor CH Vijayashankar honored five All Meghalaya Kickboxing Association athletes on Saturday for medal-winning performances at the Asia Pacific Open Kickboxing Championship, calling their results an inspiration to the state’s youth.
At Lok Bhavan, the governor congratulated gold medalists Amegrace Nongbsap and Ozanica Nongbsap, silver medalists Banshailin Grace Masharing and Mewanpyndap Marpan, and bronze winner Blaiona Kharmujai.
The governor said the team made Meghalaya proud on the international stage and praised their “dedication, discipline and hard work.”
He added that “such achievements inspire the youth of the State to pursue sports with determination and commitment,” and stressed that sports “play a vital role in shaping character, building resilience and promoting a healthy lifestyle.”
He acknowledged the association and coach Samuel Hashah for nurturing talent, expressing confidence the athletes will set more milestones.
The players thanked the governor for the recognition and reaffirmed their commitment to bring more glory to Meghalaya and India.
