SHILLONG, Sept 23: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr LR Bishnoi on Friday assured that necessary action will be taken against officers and personnel of the Tactical Team-I, once they submitted their explanation.
The Tactical Team-I had conducted an operation at the residence of the former HNLC leader (L) Cheristerfield Thangkhiew which led to his death on August 13, 2021.
“Explanation will be sought from each and every officer and personnel of the Tactical Team-I. Once they submit their explanation we will take necessary action,” Dr Bishnoi told reporters.
The decision was taken by the state government after the report of the One Man Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice T Vaiphei was tabled in the just concluded Assembly’s autumn session.
The report had stated that the operation was well planned but poorly executed since the team was supposed to capture (L) Thangkhiew alive.
