SHILLONG, OCT 11: Minister in-charge Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Timothy D Shira has encouraged farmers to take the opportunity in availing the Pradhan Mantri-Dhan Dhaanya Kisan Yojana, which encompasses various central government schemes to improve farming conditions in the state.
He was addressing at a state-level program held at the Integrated Agricultural Training Centre, Upper Shillong, to join the nationwide virtual release of the PM-DDKY by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shira explained the scheme’s aspects and requirements, and an interaction session was held to address farmers’ queries.
The program was organized jointly by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Khasi Hills, and the Meghalaya Agricultural Management and Extension Institute.
Farmers from various C&RD Blocks of East Khasi Hills district attended the event, along with officials from the department, KVK, and ATMA.
The live streaming of the main program at the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi, was shown to the attendees, where the Prime Minister launched the scheme to move towards a self-reliant and sufficient India.
