Shillong, June 18: In a major step toward simplifying highway travel, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass for non-commercial private vehicles. The pass, priced at Rs 3,000, will be available from August 15, 2025.

Designed to ease travel across India’s National Highways, the pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips—whichever comes first. It applies exclusively to private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans.

According to the minister, the initiative aims to enable seamless and cost-effective travel for millions of vehicle owners.

A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be available on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

The new policy also seeks to resolve long-standing issues related to toll plazas located within 60 km of each other. By allowing for a single, affordable transaction, the system is expected to reduce wait times, ease traffic congestion, and minimize disputes at toll booths.
