Kohima, Apr 27: Nagaland Police, in an advisory issued on Saturday, cautioned that inimical and anti-national forces are expected to intensify efforts to spread misinformation and false propaganda following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Citing reliable sources, the advisory warned that such attempts are aimed at disturbing peace and law and order across the country, including in Nagaland.

The advisory emphasized that social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X are likely to be exploited to create and disseminate false narratives, often with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools.

It further pointed out that many of these misleading posts originate from handles operated by individuals in Pakistan or their agents. Alarmingly, the advisory noted that such posts are often downloaded and shared by members of the public who may be unaware of their origins.

Urging caution, the police appealed to all citizens to verify the authenticity of any information encountered on social media before believing or sharing it.

“Please do not circulate or share any such content which has the potential to disturb the peaceable atmosphere in the state,” the advisory stated.
