Meghalaya Govt approves appointment of ex-IPS officer H Nongpluh as non-judicial member of MHRC

Shillong, Sept 25: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved the appointment of former IPS officer, H. Nongpluh, as non-judicial member of Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC).

Addressing media persons, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “After the retirement of one of the non-judicial members in the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission, we had a selection committee, which is headed by the chief minister, which had proposed the name H Nongpluh, retired IPS to be non-judicial member in the MHRC. The proposal has been approved by the cabinet.”

He also informed that the cabinet has also approved the recommendation of a committee headed by the chief secretary for appointment of Lt Col Sebastian Marbaniang as Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer, Shillong.

The cabinet has also cleared the list of holidays for the year 2025, which was brought up by GAD department.

“There is no change in the list. It is as per the list for this year,” the CM said.
