Shillong, Sept 20: Rambrai-Jyrngam MLA Remington Gabil Momin has expressed concern over delay in the functioning of newly created Rimulian C&RD block in West Khasi Hills district.

The block was sanctioned in 2022.

“The location for the Rimuliang block is still undecided. The Deputy Commissioner needs to hold a hearing to finalize this. So far, the block is not functioning,” he said.

In absence of the new block, all the schemes for the Rimulian block are currently being implemented through the Mawshynrut and Nongstoin C&RD blocks.

He informed that the block was announced much before the 2023 assembly election and the delay has irked the people of his constituency. “I have apprised the government, including the C&RD minister, two weeks ago. We have also provided a list of all villages that should be bifurcated between Rambrai and Nongstoin blocks,” he added.

When asked, C&RD Minister AT Mondal assured to look into the concern raised by the MLA. “We are working to make it functional very soon. Earlier is better. We are also proposing proper buildings for all the nine new blocks sanctioned in late 2022,” Mondal added.

The Rimuliang C&RD Block in West Khasi Hills, announced in 2022, will comprise approximately 72 villages, including Langpih Ranighat, Moipara, Umshiak, Salpara, Aradonga, Rangolpara, Rangsapara, Kamphaduli, Athiabari, Umsaitwait, Balapara (Nongshyiap), Sohmarang, Nongdron, Noapara, and many more.
