Imphal, June 12: Amid the ongoing tension in Manipur and the recent attack on the convoy of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, a grenade blast occurred at the residence of a senior doctor at Porompat, Imphal East, on Tuesday evening.
According to police sources, on June 11, around 7:53 pm, unknown assailants hurled two hand grenades at the rented residence of Dr. M. Amit Kumar, a neurosurgeon at JNIMS hospital in Porompat, Imphal East.
One of the grenades exploded, while the other failed to detonate. The blast set fire to a four-wheeler vehicle parked within the residence compound, but there were no reported injuries or casualties from the incident.
Authorities Respond Swiftly, Unexploded Grenade Safely Defused Police officials quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area and commence an investigation.
The motive behind this attack and the identities of the perpetrators are currently unknown. The police have launched an investigation to uncover the details and apprehend those responsible.
