Jharkhand MLAs’ cash seizure case: Bengal CID summons Assam businessman

Guwahati, Aug 8: West Bengal CID has summoned a Guwahati-based businessman in connection with the investigation in the Jharkhand MLAs’ cash seizure case. The questioning of the businessman is supposed to take place on Monday at Kolkata, sources said.

West Bengal CID that was in Guwahati last week has pasted a notice at the premises of Guwahati-based businessman Ashok Dhanuka.

Sources added that Ashok Dhanuka and his son Dr. Ghanshyam Dhanuka are supposed to be close to top politicians and their families.

The CID team of West Bengal Police has issued a notice to Ashok Kumar Dhanuka of Guwahati, Assam under section 41A of CrPC for collecting evidence in the cash scandal. Along with this, he has been asked to appear in Bhavani Bhavan at 10 am on Monday. Sources claimed that the CID team in Guwahati had gone to his house to serve the notice; however, his house was guarded by the Assam Police.

The CID team of West Bengal Police had gone to Assam to collect CCTV footage and other evidence regarding the arrest of three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand and collected CCTV footage from the popular Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport in Guwahati and a hotel.
