Shillong, April 23: The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly assaulted three locals at the Sonapyrdi (Sonapur) checkpost in East Jaiñtia Hills on April 20.

The Khasi Students Union (KSU) East Jaiñtia brought the incident to light, informing that the drunk BSF personnel assaulted the locals without any warning or explanation.

On April 20 at around 8:30-9:00 PM, the BSF personnel on duty were drunk and proceeded to assault locals and vandalize two vehicles.

However, no official complaint was filed against the BSF personnel till the filing of this report.

The KSU stated that this is not the first incident; the misuse of power by BSF personnel in assaulting locals has become very common. The KSU East Jaintia Hills has repeatedly written to the district administration to remove the BSF camp from the area, as it has caused insecurity among the people.
