Imphal, Feb 27: A fierce gun battle erupted between security forces and armed men on Tuesday evening in the Wangkhei area of Imphal East District, Manipur.
According to sources, the exchange of fire occurred between the armed group and the security guards of Additional SP (Ops) Imphal West, M Amit Singh outside his residence
Two people were reportedly injured in the incident.
Sources added that a team comprising of Army, Assam Rifles, and state police forces rushed to the area, as per police sources.
The residence of Addl SP (Ops) Imphal West, M Amit Singh, was attacked by armed miscreants, resulting in damage to properties and home clinics. Incidentally, the family comprises seven doctors.
According to his father, Additional SP Amit was out of station during the incident.
