Shillong, Feb 27: A remark made by a member of the treasury benches on opposition leader Mukul Sangma during a general discussion of state budget in the ongoing session of the assembly has been removed on orders of the deputy speaker.

Assembly Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira on Tuesday expunged a statement made by NPP MLA from Kharkutta Rupert G Momin after former chief minister Mukul Sangma raised an objection to a statement made by the former terming him as being ‘disturbed from the other side’.

Mukul had raised a point of order when Momin was participating during the budget discussion.

“I have never heard members referring to point of order as disturbance,” said Mukul while demanding the statement be expunged.

Accordingly, the deputy speaker announced his decision to expunge the statement ‘disturbed from the other side’ by Momin from the House proceedings.
