Tura, Dec 23: In response to recent enquiries and speculations, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Albinush R Marak has stressed that the current Executive Committee (EC) is committed towards paying the salaries of its dedicated employees.

Giving a clarification on the status of salary payment to GHADC employees on Saturday, Marak said there has been a misconception among the citizens that the current EC is not paying the employees their due salaries and there is a long due backlog of salaries.

“To make it clear, from the formation of the present EC till date, in spite of the revenue shortfall, the current EC has put the priority of the employees at the top and disbursed salaries of 34 months whereas the EC has been in charge for 32 months,” he said.

He further assured that the current EC is committed to pay all the 32 months backlogs that the previous EC has left and is dedicated to the early solution to the salary problems of the employees and has been working hard to ensure that the hard working employees receive their due benefits.

Marak said he will continue to pursue further to clear the long pending dues at the earliest.
