Duleep Trophy 2023: 3 Meghalaya cricketers selected in North East zone squad

Shillong, June 9: Three cricketers from Meghalaya have been selected to represent the North East Zone at 2023’s Duleep Trophy.

The three Meghalayan cricketers include batter Kishan Lyngdoh, fast bowler Akash Kumar Choudhary and all-rounder Dippu Ch Sangma.

The 15-member squad for BCCI’s Duleep Trophy from North East zone was finalised at a meeting of the zonal selection committee.

The commitee was chaired by the zonal convener and Meghalaya Cricket Association President Naba Bhattacharjee on Sunday (June 4th).

When will Duldeep Trophy 2023 played

The Duldeep tournament will be held between June 28th to July 28th.

When did Duldeep Trophy began

The Duleep Trophy started in 1961-62, it is one of the major events in the Board of Control for cricket’s (BCCI) domestic calendar. This brings up players in mixed teams from six zones. However, the North East Zone was created in 2019-20.

How are players selected?

The players in the North East squad was selected after a “detailed scrutiny of records, statistics” including other relevant informations of the individual players from the six zonal states (Meghalaya, Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh) in the 2022-2023 BCCI senior domestic tournaments, primarily the Ranji Trophy, and North East Cricket Development Committee one day competition.
