Shillong, Feb 23: Hundreds of people from different places gathered on Thursday to pay their last respects to veteran politician and UDP candidate from Sohiong, HDR Lyngdoh who passed away on Monday.
The former Home Minister Lyngdoh, fondly known as ‘Maheh’, was laid to rest at his residence at Shiliang Dongki, Sohiong.
On Monday, Lyngdoh blacked out after a meeting at Mawmaram and was rushed to Bethany Hospital at 4 pm and died from a cardiac arrest later. After losing to Samlin Malngiang on 2018, Lyngdoh was supposed to contest again in the upcoming MLA elections of 2023 but mournfully left for his heavenly abode.
It may be mentioned that the election commission has decided to postpone the assembly election for the Sohiong constituency.
