Tura, Feb 16: In another blow to the TMC days before the election, more than 120 of the party’s workers joined the NPP in Dadenggre constituency. The workers were welcomed by local MLA and candidate from the constituency James P.K. Sangma.

The new joinees cited ill-treatment of party workers by TMC candidate Rupa Marak and other senior leaders.

“TMC is a new party in Meghalaya, but we (party workers) have been involved in politics for a long time now. But we are not even consulted when constituency decisions are taken. The party’s leaders come in, give speeches and go without listening to our opinions. We have decided to join the NPP as the party’s workers are at least respected by the leaders,” a new joinee said.
