SHILLONG, Sept 7: In a major blow to drug traffickers, six including three women were arrested with 137.78 gram of heroin during raids conducted by the police in several areas of the city on Tuesday night.
The East Khasi Hills anti-narcotic task force (ANTF) along with Laitumkhrah police conducted an operation in Laitumkhrah area and intercepted one local taxi ML 05K 4437 at Lower New Colony and apprehended Debojit Ghosh (28), Badonbok Marwein (28), Ibapynhun Marwein (29) and Macdonald Khongmalai (26), SP (City)Vivek Syiem said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
From their possession 13.54 gms of Heroin, 153 vials, 3 mobile phones and a Maruti local taxi was seized, he said.
Meanwhile, the person who supplied the drugs, one Deepika Roy (32) was apprehended at Laitumkhrah Main Road who led the police to the house of Archana Roy (25) where 57.54gms of Heroin, 1 mobile phone and cash Rs 1,94,975 was recovered and seized, he said.
Later, the house of Deepika Roy at Nongrimbah Laitumkhrah was searched and gold ornaments: 256.36gms, Heroin: 66.7gms and cash: Rs 19,000 was found and seized.
The SP said a total of 137.78 gm Heroin, cash Rs 2,14,075 has been seized in Tuesday night’s raid and 6 people have been arrested (3 males and 3 females).
A case has been registered with the Laitumkhrah police station.
