Nongpoh, Feb 13: In a suspected case of food poisoning, several people were taken ill after consuming the food at Nongkhrah village in Ri Bhoi district in which 40 people including women and children were rushed to the hospital at Nongpoh in Ri Bhoi district.
As per reports, a wedding was held in Nongrang village on Friday. On early Saturday morning, the wedding attendees felt sick and were rushed to the Civil Hospital and Bethany Hospital in Nongpoh.
The 40 people are currently undergoing treatment and are stable, only showing symptoms of nausea and diarrhoea, and suspected to be a case of food poisoning. Patients said many of them became ill after eating pork during the wedding.
The District Medical and Health Officer has directed a team of doctors from Ri Bhoi to rush to the village to conduct an investigation and ascertain the facts.
