After the counting of votes was completed, the MNF has won ten seats, while the opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) secured majority by bagging 27 seats in the 40-member House.

CM Zoramthanga himself also lost to ZPM’s Lalthansanga by 2,101 votes in the Aizawl East-1 seat to ZPM’s Lalthansanga

After loosing election, outgoing Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said, “Because of the anti-incumbency effect and the people are not satisfied with my performance so I lost… I accept the verdict of the people and I hope that the next government will perform well… It (the reason) is the anti-incumbency and Covid onslaught.”
