Aizawl, Dec 4: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Monday called on the Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati evening to submit his resignation following the defeat of his party, the Mizo National Front, in the assembly elections.
After the counting of votes was completed, the MNF has won ten seats, while the opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) secured majority by bagging 27 seats in the 40-member House.

CM Zoramthanga himself also lost to ZPM’s Lalthansanga by 2,101 votes in the Aizawl East-1 seat to ZPM’s Lalthansanga
After loosing election, outgoing Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said, “Because of the anti-incumbency effect and the people are not satisfied with my performance so I lost… I accept the verdict of the people and I hope that the next government will perform well… It (the reason) is the anti-incumbency and Covid onslaught.”
