Nongstoin, Oct 1: The West Khasi Hills District Administration has ordered a formal inquiry into alleged irregularities and illegal demands in the recruitment of Staff Nurses at MCH Hospital, Nongstoin, following the disruption of interviews on September 29.
The inquiry was ordered after VPP leader and Nongstoin MDC Dr Juristman Iawphniaw, along with members of the VPP State Youth Wing, entered the interview venue and demanded that the recruitment process be stopped until the allegations were addressed.
In a press release issued on September 30, the District Administration said integrity, transparency and merit would remain central to the recruitment process. It also warned that corruption or illegal solicitation would be dealt with under the law.
An Inquiry Committee comprising Superintendent of Police H. Kharkongor, MPS, and Executive Magistrate E. Lyngdoh, MCS, has been constituted to conduct a comprehensive probe.
The administration has also put the selection results on hold. No final selection list will be published until the committee completes its inquiry and resolves the issues under examination.
Candidates and the public have been warned against approaching middlemen or individuals claiming they can influence the recruitment process.
The administration urged anyone facing illegal demands or solicitation to report the matter directly to the Inquiry Committee or the District Administration.
It further said strict legal action will follow based on the findings of the inquiry committee.The administration reiterated that recruitment must be conducted transparently and on merit.
