SHILLONG, MAR 9: Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Vibhor Aggarwal has called an urgent Peace Committee meeting Tuesday, requesting community elders, clergy and development‑committee representatives as administrators seek to defuse tensions after protest disrupted GHADC nomination filing.
Notice have been issued to 28 invitees — including the Superintendent of Police (Member‑Secretary), two MCS officers, chief executive officer (CEO), church leaders, local leaders, and Tura Development Committee office‑bearers.
“…a peace committee meeting is scheduled to be held on March 10, 2026 in the conference hall of TUra circuit house at 10 am. In this regard, all the members of the peace committee, Tura and two representatives from each of the local area development committee are requested to attend the said meeting,” the DC said.
