Shillong, Aug 31: The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Thursday asked all its four legislators to ensure the MLA scheme is implemented in a transparent manner and to make public the report on a regular basis.

In a letter to the MLAs of the party, VPP general secretary Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon said that the State Executive Committee (SEC) in its meeting held on July 20, had a detailed and threadbare discussion on the matter and resolved to bring it to the notice of the Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Party to take necessary action.

“(The MLAs are urge) to make sure that the MLA scheme is implemented in a transparent manner and a detailed report of the same be made public on a regular basis,” he said.

He said the SEC also urged the MLAs to ensure financial propriety with respect to TA/ DA and sitting fees as members of any Assembly Committee and to make certain that any renovation to MLA hostel allotted to every MLA must be reasonable and justified.

“All legislators are requested to kindly take note of the above points brought forth by the SEC and to ensure that the decision be carried out in letter and spirit in the interest of the public and the state at large,” Dr Syngkon said.
