Agartala, Sept 29: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, the East Agartala police in collaboration with the College Tilla police outpost successfully seized marijuana (Ganja) worth Rs. 75 lakhs, which was being taken to Meghalaya.

After getting specific input, police intercepted a 12-wheeler truck and, after search, a hidden chamber containing a large quantity of marijuana were seized.

The estimated market value of the seized ganja is around Rs. 75 lakh,” said an police official.

The truck driver, identified as 33-year-old Mithun Karmakar, has been arrested.

During preliminary interrogation, Karmakar revealed that he was transporting the consignment to Meghalaya.
