SHILLONG, FEB 13: Three bike lifters were arrested after they were apprehended by villagers in Umthli under Pynursla police station on Friday.
The accused persons have been identified as Pyndapborlang Khonglah, Bamkerlang Surong, and Iohborlang Mylliem Umlong, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said in a statement.
The arrest followed a complaint by Rahul Thapa, who reported his motorcycle (ML 05 AC 4622, YAMAHA MT 15) stolen from Goenka Compound parking lot.
A case has been registered under Sadar PS Case no 42(02)2026 u/s 305 (b) BNS.
An ML 05Z 5650 Hyundai i10, ML 05N 4146 Alto 800, 1 Vivo mobile phone, 1 Samsung mobile phone and 1 Poco mobile phone were seized from the possession.
Investigation is ongoing to determine their involvement in other two-wheeler thefts, Syiem said.
