SWKH Vs SGH: SWKH triumphs 6-1 in U-18 Boys’ Football opener at Meghalaya Games 2024

Tura, Jan 11: The opening match of the U-18 Boys’ football of the Meghalaya Games 2024 started on Thursday at Govt Boy’s Higher School Playground, Chandmari, Tura.

The match was played between the South Garo Hills District team and South West Khasi Hills District team.

John Kharsiing, was present at the venue where he interacted with the players and wished the players good luck.

In the the first half the South West Khasi Hillls District team was able to score two goals while the South Garo Hills District team scored one goal.

However, in the second half the South West Khasi Hills team scored four goals, whereas the South Garo Hills were static with their solitary goal.

The South West Khasi Hills District team progressed to the next round after securing a 6-1 victory in the opening match of the Meghalaya Games U-18 Boys’ football.

On Tuesday, the State Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri, officially initiated the torch relay for the 5th Meghalaya Games at the SSA Stadium in Shillong. The grand inauguration of the event is set to take place on January 15 in Tura, West Garo Hills district, and will be presided over by President Droupadi Murmu.
