SHILLONG, OCT 02: The Seng Rangbah Catholic Holy Trinity Sutnga Parish in East Jaintia Hills on Friday denied reports that it has extended support to the NPP candidate for the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election.
A statement issued by its President Emanlang Pala and General Secretary Merciful Sutnga said its meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar was solely to seek assistance for various needs of the Seng Rangbah under the Parish.
“The Seng Rangbah did not meet the Deputy Chief Minister to extend full support to the NPP candidate Dr DRL Nonglait,” the statement said.
The leaders said as an organization they work for the welfare of the Church and as citizens of the state they have every right to approach the Deputy Chief Minister for help.
“As an organization we work for the betterment of the Church and as residents of the State we have the right to seek assistance from the Deputy Chief Minister of the State,” they added.
