Shillong, May 26: Avelyne Francisca Khriam, the student of St. Edmund’s Hr. Secondary School who secured the second position in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (Arts stream) 2023, expressed that social media is boon but one needs to be disciplined enough to not get addicted by it.

“I feel social media is a boon, but it depends on each individual… but, we have to maintain our discipline and need to know we should not get addicted to it. We should take care of our studies as well,” feels Khriam.

Avelyne, who secured an overall total marks of 449 and distinction in six subjects (E,K,Ed,M,CS,Ec), said throughout the year she was a little laid-back and did not put much effort but before the examination she put extra efforts.

“It was just before the examination, I realised how important it is to put extra efforts. I tried to study as much as I could and importantly I made sure to take break in between,” she said.

As Computer Science is her favourite subject, Avelyne will take up Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) for further studies in St. Edmund’s College, Shillong.

In her message to fellow students, Avelyne said, “Hard work always pays off; no matter what we do, if we give our all in, hard work will take us places.”
