Shillong, June 11: Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya also known as the Scoltand of the East has been witnessing heavy rainfall since a couple of days amid late monsoon arrival.
With the arrival of monsoon, several issues have also popped up like waterlogging and traffic congestion have also returned to the city.
Due to heavy rain in Shillong, waterlogging issues has been witnessed in several areas like Polo and the adjacent areas.
The main issue resulting to waterlogging in several parts of the city is due to the lack of proper drainage system. Waterlogging issues are raised every year, but nothing has been done yet in this regard by the authorities.
Now, with continuous rainfall, the waterlogging which has turned into a flood-like situation, disrupting normal life.
Also, a similar sight was seen on Friday when the roads in the city turned into ponds due to rains.
