Shillong, June 7: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has condemned the alleged sexual assault of 15 minors by a person in a village in West Khasi Hills.

The startling revelation came to light from Umsaw Tyllang village following the commission of the crime on a 10-year-old boy, who was the latest victim. SCPCR chairperson Iamonlang Syiem told reporters on Tuesday that the district protection officers along with the police are on the field to find out the details of the case.

Syiem also informed that she will be visiting the village along with the members of the commission most likely next week.

The SCPCR chairperson added that the news has shocked the people and there is a lot of grief considering the pain and agony of the victimised children. She also informed that she has spoken to the Sordar of the village who revealed to her that the accused must have perpetrated the acts since 2017. Stating that she has read in the media that there are 15 minors who were allegedly sexually assaulted, SCPCR chairperson did not rule out the possibility of more victims.
