Shillong, July 19: Ri Bhoi District Police conducted a Naka after receiving information from reliable sources at the Kyrdeng Police checkpoint and detained one LMV B/R No. AS01DT 7519, which was driven by Vinod Kumar Sharma of Jaipur and one occupant, Lalshyam Sharma of Rajasthan.
On checking the vehicle, police seized Six numbers of gold biscuits, each of ten tolas, were seized from the possession of Vinod Kumar Sharma.
Also, two mobile phones and the above mentioned vehicle were seized.
The gold was worth 35 lakh Indian rupees. Police arrested the duo, and further investigation is underway.
The information was shared by the Director General Of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya, Dr. L. R. Bishnoi, IPS, on Twitter.
He wrote, “the shrewd gold smugglers tried to hoodwink cops and to glitter their shadowy world that is enmeshed in the web of deceit and greed but alert Ribhoi Police held 2 accd, seized gold worth ₹35Lakh & a Volkswagen. Kudos to team.”
