Shillong, Jan 13: Deputy Chief Whip of the Government of Meghalaya, Pynïaid Sing Syiem ,along with Former Cabinet Minister and Mylliem MLA, Hamletson Dohling, on Friday laid the foundation for the construction of metallic and Black topping of the Mawklot-Sohtyngab to Mawkhan road.

Syiem lauded the former MLA of Mylliem as it was his continuous effort and timelessly intervention that has pushed the government of Meghalaya through the PWD department to sanction the amount for the construction of this long ignored road connecting two villages.

Along with clean drinking water, Syiem said good roads are amongst the main necessities required for people living in a society.

For the last many years the road which connects the two villages has been left unattended and the villagers, especially the school students, suffer a lot especially during raining season, said Dohling, the former local MLA who recently resigned from the post.

The road of about 1 km in length will be constructed at an amount of Rs. 2.82 cr at Mawklot Sohtynab which connects with Myrkhan, two villages which are next to the locality of previous MLA of Congress, Ronnie V Lyngdoh.

Dohling further announced that another Rs. 70 lakhs will be sanctioned soon for the renovation of the football ground in the area.
