Shillong, March 18: The East Khasi Hills police have arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a differently-abled woman.
The accused, identified as 27-year-old Olis Mukhim from Nonghali village in Mawryngkneng, was taken into custody on Tuesday following an investigation into the case.
According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, the incident had taken place earlier but was only reported to the police recently. Upon receiving the complaint, officers from Mawdiangdiang and Nongmensong police stations launched a detailed investigation, which ultimately led to Mukhim’s arrest.
Police informed that the victim is a woman who is both deaf and mute.
