Shillong, Sept 28: In a continuing effort to encourage academic excellence among students of his constituency, South Shillong MLA and Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai on Saturday organised the 22nd Meritorious Award for Students, 2025 at the Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong.
A total of 444 students who excelled in their examinations were felicitated at the programme, which was hosted by the Raid Laban Sports, Social & Cultural Organization.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Tynsong lauded Shullai for his consistent efforts to uplift the youth of South Shillong through such initiatives. “I am truly impressed by the successful organisation of this programme and the credit goes to Shullai,” Tynsong said.
He added that such initiatives play a significant role not only in boosting the education sector of the constituency but also in strengthening the state’s overall progress in literacy. Expressing optimism, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “With the kind of steps being taken, I am confident that by 2028, Meghalaya will achieve 100% literacy.”
