Guwahati, May 19: In a tragic incident, a man was electrocuted to death and four others were critically injured after they came in contact with live wire in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Jahirul Islam, a resident of Sotpara in Jogighopa of Bongaigaon.
The injured were admitted to Goalpara hospital in critical condition.
The injured are Sofiqul Islam, Mominul Islam, Akidul Islam, and Mohinur Islam.
According to reports, the incident occured in Jogighopa where the five individuals came into contact with an electric wire from a tower line.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation after reaching the spot.
“We are investigating the case as how they came in contact with the live electric wire. Right now we can’t say anything but after proper investigation we will take action,” said a police official.
Earlier, due to the negligence of APDCL many people died after they came in contact with live wire.
