Shillong, Dec 14: NPP national vice president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said it is not possible to divert government funds to political funds.

“…be it BJP, which is now running the affairs of India or any regional political parties in different states, you need to understand one thing that it is not at all possible to divert government funds to political funds,” Tynsong told reporters.

He said the allegations of many political leaders that NPP is transferring the Meghalaya budget fund to Manipur, Mizoram or Arunachal Pradesh are just “childish allegations” made adding “As I said to you even Rs 1 it is counted. Therefore, it (diverting funds for political interest) is not at all allowed.”

Tynsong further stated: “And how we run the party, why should I tell you. We are running the party on our own and how we do it is our wisdom. The same way for other political parties, be it in India or any state, they are running the party like that only.”

On the Congress’ chief Vincent H. Pala’s allegation that NPP MLAs are running away since the anti-incumbency is very high against the party, the deputy chief minister said, “Running away or people from other parties are joining us?”

“The two MLAs resigned only because they knew they would not get the ticket so they had to run…,” he said. According to him, only three NPP MLAs will not get tickets out of which two have resigned.
