GUWAHATI, May 21: The inaugural ‘Rising Northeast: Investors’ Summit 2025’ will be held on May 23–24 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, to showcase the vast investment, trade, and strategic potential of Northeast India. The landmark event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in partnership with FICCI and Invest India, the summit aims to position the Northeast as India’s next big business destination, with a strong focus on geostrategic connectivity, abundant natural resources, low operational costs, and a skilled, English-proficient workforce.

“The Northeast Region is an emerging frontier for businesses,” said a DoNER official. “The summit is a powerful platform for building partnerships, launching greenfield projects, and expanding into new markets.”

Assam at the forefront
A high-level delegation from Assam, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, will make a major presence at the summit. Calling Assam a “powerhouse of opportunities,” Sarma said the state is ready to showcase its strengths in tea, trade, tourism, and more.
“Guided by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Assam is emerging as a key gateway to ASEAN,” Sarma stated.

Nine priority sectors, 2,000+ delegates
More than 2,000 high-level delegates—including industry leaders, investors, government officials, multilateral representatives, and startups—are expected to attend. Discussions will focus on nine key sectors including agriculture, food processing, and allied industries, textiles, handloom, and handicrafts, entertainment and sports, education and skill development, healthcare, IT and ITES, tourism and hospitality, infrastructure and logistics and energy.

The summit will feature G2B and B2B meetings, sector-specific sessions, and networking opportunities with policymakers and private players.

A region ready for business
In the lead-up to the event, roadshows were held in seven major Indian cities to promote the Northeast’s investment opportunities.

The region—rich in oil, gas, minerals, medicinal plants, bamboo, and water resources—is being aggressively positioned as India’s Green Hub and a prime destination for eco-tourism, agritech, and sustainable industries.
