Guwahati, May 14: On Saturday, the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) stated that with the defeat in the Karnataka assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah would follow the “Raj Dharma” and focus their attention on restoring permanent peace in violence hit Manipur by undoing all the gaffes it made in the recent past to polarize the polity of the state.

The NECCC General Secretary Diganta Chaudhury said that the Karnataka mandate amply reflects that the people of the south Indian state has embraced politics of love instead of hatred and squarely voted for social harmony and economic growth.

“The Congress entered into the election fray on issues faced by the common and poor people — unemployment, corruption, price rise and livelihood while the “Double Engine” BJP government relied on sheer money power and communal politics, Chaudhury stated in a statement.

The NECCC extends its congratulations to the electorate of Karnataka for “comprehensively defeating the divisive and polarisation politics of BJP led by none other than the Prime Minister of India”.
