TURA, May 14: The District Disaster Management Authority in Tura has asked the Tura Civil Hospital authorities to sound an alarm asking for the movement of residents and occupiers from their lands to safer places as the threat from collapse of the hospital building cannot be ruled out if more rains come down.

The DDMA gave its report after assessing the ground situation in the area of the hospital where a large section of the retaining wall had collapsed.

Since the hospital building posed threat of collapse, the DDMA has given the alert asking all residents living in the vicinity of the weakened structure to move out.

A landslide had occured a few weeks ago destroying a major part of the retaining wall that protected the back portion of the new building which overtime further exposed the foundations threatening with a possible collapse of the structure, prompting the evacuation of patients.

On May 13th, the Superintendent of Tura civil hospital Dr Inbert C Marak issued a notice asking all occupiers and households located near the landslide area to move out to a safer place as a precautionary measure since threat of more erosion was possible if the rains came in.

Based on the report of the District Disaster Management Authority the DDMA assessed the situation and advised to notify the households in the surrounding area about the safety measures.
