New Delhi, Oct 25:The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has  recommended replacing India with ‘Bharat’ in all school textbooks.

NCERT panel’s proposal to universally replace “India” with “Bharat” in all NCERT books got unanimous approval from its members .

“NCERT panel has recommended replacing ‘India’ with ‘Bharat’ in school textbooks, ” said Committee chairman C I Issac.

Committee chairman C I Issac also said that the NCERT panel has recommended introduction of Indian Knowledge System (IKS) in curriculum for all subjects,

It has also asked to introduce ‘classical History’ instead of ancient History in the academic curriculum.

The controversy surrounding the use of ‘India’ versus ‘Bharat’ in school textbooks has led to the decision by NCERT to replace the former with the latter.

This is a developing story.
