Shillong, Apr 23: A late goal from substitute Bankheinlang Rongring helped Janepih YSCA edge past A’chik SCO Rongjeng 1-0 in a closely contested Group G match of the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5) in Williamnagar on Thursday.
The decisive moment came in the final stages of the match, with Bankheinlang finding the net less than 10 minutes from full time. This came just five minutes after he was introduced as a substitute. His strike proved enough to secure all three points for Janepih in what was their toughest outing so far in the tournament.
With the win, Janepih maintained a perfect record, registering their third consecutive victory to stay on top of the group with nine points. Notably, they are yet to concede a goal in the competition.
A’chik SCO Rongjeng, despite a strong performance, were unable to break through and suffered their second defeat in three matches. They remain fourth in the five-team group with three points.
Meanwhile, there has been a change in the Group A schedule, with two matches now set to be played on Friday. Umkaber SCC will take on Khimusniang SC at 1 pm, followed by Nongkseh SSCC versus Mawshun SCC at 5 pm. Fixtures in the remaining groups will continue as scheduled, with matches kicking off at 3 pm.
